Our capacity to imagine other worlds is born in darkness, in depth, in the oldest and most sacred search of myth. Transformation as urgency, as a natural and overflowing force that pushes us toward change. The darkness of night and the moon. We recognize ourselves through the senses, beyond the gaze that shapes and defines us. Bodies passing through water in order to appear. T he visual narrative of the project shapes around the metaphor of the butterfly: a journey from darkness toward light, a passage that weaves together vulnerability, rebirth, and the feeling of always being halfway between worlds. Working with a team made up entirely of trans* people does not speak to identity as such, but rather reinforces the possibility of imagining more livable worlds and radical fictions in which we are loved, seen, and held through our own ways of looking at each other. T he pieces worn by Viva (@viivaa___) were designed and made by Annika Sunne (@sunneeeeeeeeee) and Amveria (@amveria). A conversation with the larval, the organic, and that which mutates. They reinforce the idea of the body in transit, in transformation. The photographic work of Pasion Valentino (@valentinofl0res) carries a strong intention in its use of shadows and contrasts, and in the materiality of skin and environment. The styling by Amina Shestani (@ghazelleproduction) works with the idea of the body-as-myth: delicate, political, bound to territory, always in the process of undoing and remaking itself. The color grading by Jean Michel Conyedo (@jeanmichelconyedo) sustains and echoes this vision—darkness as protection, light as birth.
