São Paulo, 5 p.m. My conversation with DJ and producer EVEHIVE happens at the perfect moment — on the day of his new EP “ECHOES” release, and just one day after his first listening event. While that might be routine for other artists, such an occasion holds special meaning for Eve — the person behind the DJ name — who has been rising exponentially since last year.
“What I didn’t achieve in ten years of my career happened all in just one,” he tells me, sharing that the listening session was an emotional moment for him.
Speaking about this rise, however, Evehive admits it hasn’t been all smooth: “I’ve been having to deal with all of this — being seen, the attention, the reactions to my identity and everything that comes with it. But that’s the core of ‘ECHOES’ — these tracks represent what I’ll be echoing from now on, all built from what I’ve experienced before.”
Released at the end of September, EVEHIVE’s new EP features seven tracks with both national and international collaborations. As the artist explains, the project presents his current sound — blending techno and voguebeat, for which he’s already known, with funk and gqom, the South African rhythm he fell in love with during his tour in Africa.
“I really found myself in gqom. I’ll always be in love with voguebeat — it’s something I’ve carried with me for years — and then there’s funk, right? It all ends up turning into this big electronic mix.”
Throughout the project, the producer introduces himself while also presenting new names to his listeners. The EP, which features collaborations with Mamboussa, WILHEMINA, b o u t, and MC Morena, showcases Evehive’s ability to balance his own sound with that of other producers and vocalists, proving the strength of his unique perspective.
One interesting detail about “ECHOES” is that its creation process was more curatorial than purely productive. As Eve tells me, some of the tracks had already been made three years ago, but at the beginning of this year, he felt the need to “keep my mind busy with something” — and came across these seven tracks.
“I was feeling very emotional” EVEHIVE shares, explaining that when he came up with the idea for the EP, he was going through personal issues with family and friends, while also beginning his hormonal transition.“It was that kind of cliché thing — music saved me, you know? The process of finishing it was really important to help me find calm” he says.

Eve, who was recognized by MixMag last year as one of the world’s most promising DJs, also takes a moment during our conversation to share advice with other underground professionals.
“It’s really nice to have that kind of recognition, but it can also be quite challenging. It’s what we all aim for, but at the same time, you have to take care of your mental health,” he explains.
“I was very exposed, you know? So my advice is to always keep doing something — you can’t stay still with all eyes on you. It’s essential to stay professional, surround yourself with people, build a good support network, so you can make things happen at the right pace.”
For him, however, the most important point is knowing what you truly want to do. “Sometimes, in trying to get attention or please others, we end up becoming a bit of a caricature, you know?” EVEHIVE concludes.
“Be sure that this is really your thing — because that’s the only way it flows. Only you can sustain your own persona, right?”
