This is the mix of Brazil and Ecuador: Kontronatura and Entrañas release a collaborative EP
Blending Brazilian and Ecuadorian rhythms, the two producers — rising names in the underground scene — use music to create a new kind of Latin electronic sound.

São Paulo, 5:30 p.m. The international influence of the Latin community in music is undeniable — from major stars to the expanding reach of the underground scene, Latin artists have made their mark all over the world. But within a continent like Latin America, our sonic diversity matches its vastness and the number of its countries — and it’s from this diversity that Efeito Revirada was born, the collaborative EP by producers Kontronatura and Entrañas, a Brazilian and an Ecuadorian.
“I think each of us brings our own cultural background,” says Kontronatura, one of the most prominent names in São Paulo’s underground scene, adding: “Entrañas with the Ecuadorian bomba and me with baile funk, blending it all together in our percussion.”

With Entrañas pointing out: “It’s the Latin scene taking a much stronger stand. It’s something that captivates and moves us — it’s not just a trend for us.”
Across the three tracks of the project, the two producers expand and merge their favorite rhythms, creating a Latin sound that’s uniquely theirs. According to Kontronatura, the magic of the project comes from both arriving as fully-formed artists to the EP — in his words: “I don’t think it’s different from what we already do; that was exactly the meeting point.”
Efeito Revirada is made up of the tracks “Eris,” “Pontinha,” and “Shaniqua,” totaling about 15 minutes of 100% Latin sound. About the first track, Entrañas says: “In this one, I bring bomba, an Ecuadorian rhythm in 6/8, and mix in my drums, turning them into a very clever techno version.”
The duo’s new EP was developed while Entrañas was visiting Brazil and spent two weeks at Kontronatura’s house, getting to know the culture and experiencing Brazilian warmth firsthand. For the São Paulo-based producer, Efeito Revirada was born from the experiences they shared in the city.
“It was a really sweet moment. We lived a lot together, went to many parties, listened to a lot of music — that built our bank of sonic references from that period,” says Kontronatura.

In the last days of the trip, the two sat down in the studio and created the entire project together. As Entrañas recalls: “We just sat down and had fun — nothing was planned. We simply started combining sounds and creating this new wave.”
For the duo, Efeito Revirada was born not only from the Brazilian heat, but also from the lessons each of them absorbed during the experience — for instance, Kontronatura says that Entrañas taught him to work in a more spontaneous and natural way.
In the end, the Ecuadorian artist sums up the experience by saying: “It was beautiful how much affection there was — that’s why I feel the tracks turned out so well. Because when there’s good energy and a nice vibe, I believe we create our best songs.”
